Hospitality Design award finalist Marriott Xiamen Hotel & Conference Centre by resort designers Matthias Winkler, AIA, Principal, and Benjamin Candari, AIA, Co-Founder/Principal of FSC Architects is in the news. As published by Hospitality Design the hotel is noted as "the first Marriott hotel in China's Fujian Province, the 366-room property was crafted as an escape from the busy central business district. Inspiration comes from local elements like tea culture and the coastal landscape, highlighted in a calming, cool palette and undulating wood elements in the public space that recall the serene seaside."

Matthias says the design concept is that of a Grand Seaside Hotel formal and symmetrical yet relaxed with architecture influences from China and its Pacific Ocean neighbors in Southeast Asia and Hawaii.
