Club Med Sanya Resort (originally a Kempinski operated resort)

A Majestic Greeting

Already from afar you are greeted by the spa suites’ tall pitched grass roofs reaching for the sky. These structures allow the hot air to rise and make the room below cool and airy: An alluring picture of what comfort the guest will be invited to. By stepping and grouping the 450 guestrooms like little villages the resort architecture draws a connection to the distant hills and creates individual spaces that merge again through the tropical landscape and the tentacles of the lagoon-like pool.

Design Architect was WATG and this project was designed with:
James G. Freeman - Acting Principal and Lead Designer

"Mr. Freeman was instrumental in ensuring that the project was built as one of the best beach properties in Asia. We definitely will ask Mr. Freeman to work with us again..." ( Rene Schmitt, former President Kempinski Hotels Asia)
