Perched atop the historic Jin Yun Shan outside Chongqing, this 120-key luxury boutique hotel—including 20 exclusive resort villas—is a masterclass in preservation-led design. Every existing tree on the site has been saved, honoring the mature forest and cultural significance of this revered mountain setting.
To protect the landscape, the contemporary architecture unfolds in a series of elegant pavilions and serene courtyards, allowing nature to lead the way. The design draws direct inspiration from the site’s natural grandeur: towering columns rise from robust stone bases, wrapped in expansive, mullion-free glass, and crowned with deep overhangs that echo the mountain’s soaring trees and their generous leafy canopies.
Rather than imposing upon the environment, the architecture becomes part of it—contemporary yet timeless, respectful yet bold. By embracing the site's natural beauty, the result is a seamless harmony between built form and forest, where each structure feels like it has always belonged.
